This month, I haven’t fallen behind on my target to blog at the beginning of every month, I purposely left updating my blog until the end of the month for a couple of reasons: so it wasn’t too soon after my September update, and also because I had interesting things going on at the end of the month that I wanted to talk about.
So, after the [read more] cut is what I’ve been getting up to in October. Dive in…
I Literary Can’t Even
The literary podcast I host with Kyra Lennon, and our friend Paula Grabow is still going strong. We recently released episode seven, and we’re recording episode eight later today.
We also have a website up and running, where we post the links to each episode, the details of books we’ve mentioned, and also the information for our advent calendar project.
You should totally go check it out now: http://iliterarycanteven.weebly.co
While I’m not back into my usual writing routine, yet, I feel the funk of the last few months has lifted. I’m updating Every Moment With You again, and hope the finish the last handful of chapters soon. I’m also planning on taking part in NaNoWriMo in November … with two projects!
Kyra Lennon and I frequently talk about writing together, but for one reason or another it never pans out. Then this weekend, she came up to visit (more on that later) and as NaNo begins on Wednesday, we thought why not plan a new story, and start writing it for the 50k in one-month challenge.
But as we’ll be co-writing it, it means that every other day, I won’t be working on it, as Kyra will and I want something to else to do so that I keep in the writing headspace (also, it would be cool to ‘win’ NaNoWriMo with 50k 😉) So, I’m starting a new project … though it’s not completely ‘new.’ It’s a continuation of the story world I started in my anthology short-story Seeking the Truth, about a police detective (Erin Reynolds) and an arcane magician (Morgan Jackson) who have to solve a necromantic murder.
My aim is for Seeking the Truth (which I will be revising, and possibly lengthening. Let me know if you’re interested in beta reading) to become the first part of an occult detective series in which Erin and Morgan use their combined skills to solve paranormal/ supernatural mysteries/ crimes within the city they live.
I’ll let you know at the end of November how I got on with the second story in the series.
Hopefully doing NaNoWriMo will reignite my writing fire, and I can then complete Every Moment With You, and my 10k Nutcracker retelling for the Snowy Wings Publishing fairy tale anthology.
